Join Us
We welcome new players across all brass, woodwind and percussion instruments. As we seek to expand our membership, we are particularly looking for new players across the following instruments:
Woodwind: Flute, oboe/cor anglais, Bb clarinet, bass clarinet, contra-bass clarinet, bassoon
Brass: French horn, trumpet, cornet, tenor and bass trombone, euphonium, tuba
Percussion: drums/drum kit, timpani, tuned percussion
If you're interested in playing in SCB, you are welcome to come along to one of Our Rehearsals. We also ask that you complete the joining form at the bottom of this page. We will reply by sending you our new members' pack, telling you more about the band and the benefits of joining.
We make no charge for the for the first 2 rehearsals, while you decide whether you want to join as a full member.
Benefits of membership
As a member of the SCB you are of course entitled to come to rehearsals and play in gigs. You can also come and join us on tour. We hope you will find your playing will improve by being with us.
You will be included on the e-mail circulation list for information and news, and have access to our intranet site for players.
You can be on the Committee and also join the SLCM Trustees' Committee, and be more closely involved with the running of the group on a regular basis. Or you can volunteer for one-off tasks. This is good (free!) management training, and ensures you get to know other people in the band. We encourage everyone to contribute in some way or other, in addition to playing, enabling us to be both well organized and ambitious.
Subscription rates
£42 per quarter or £14 per month.
£21 per quarter or £7 per month for concessions (students, unemployed and senior citizens).
We ask players to take out a standing order, as this is easier all round. If you pay UK tax then we ask you to complete a Gift Aid form, so we can benefit from your subscription by reclaiming tax through the Gift Aid Scheme.
