Open rehearsal for OXJAM
An opportunity to listen to Southwark Concert Band rehearsing for their forthcoming events, whilst raising funds for Oxfam through their music arm, OXJAM. Music being rehearsed will be posted here nearer the event. Entry will be by donation, and includes free refreshments and a prize draw, all in aid of Oxfam.
Saturday Music Centres
We have been funded by the Arts Council England to carry out a 3-year programme of work with the Music Centres run by local Councils. So far we have worked with Lewisham. This year (2005/6) SCB has played at the Deptford Music Centre and Bellingham Music Centre. There will be similar programmes over the next two academic years.
Dulwich schools
We have recently been given a grant by Dulwich Community Council to do projects with local primary schools. We are currently discussing the details with the local schools.
Working with schools
In the past we have carried out a programme of workshops with schools in our local community. We have held successful workshops with the following schools:
- Gloucester Grove Primary School, Peckham
- St Boniface Primary School, Tooting
- Warwick Park Secondary School, Peckham
